Trotter Win’s 3rd Cactus Tour Event In 6 Starts

Joy Trotter fired a final round 67 to win event #10 of the Cactus Tour. The event was played at the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix and was a 54 hole tournament. Trotter’s shot 71-76 to go along with her 67 (214) to earn the $1650 first place prize.

Trotter lift UCI following her second year and took several months trying to decide if she wanted to play golf for a living or look for a “real” job and join the workforce pursuing her passion for cooking. Early indication’s are that Joy has made the right decision in pursuing tournament golf as her profession. Joy will likely play in the Canadian Open and the Colorado Open before attempting to qualify for the US Open prior to the 2011 LPGA Tour Qualifying School.

Joy credit’s her new found success to improving her practice session’s by trying to make them harder than the tournament’s that she play’s in. According to her swing coach, George Pinnell, practicing this way will prepare her for anything that she may be confronted with during tournament play. Pinnell encourages his player’s to “make practice session’s meaningful by making every swing, chip, pitch or putt mean something to the player. It is unproductive to randomly hit golf balls without a purpose,” according to Pinnell.
