Felicia Chang 2nd At Golf Pride Grips Championship @ La Costa

Felicia Chang, 13, shot 84 to finish in 2nd place at the storied La Costa Resort and Spa. The young, sophomore to be, had a rough start to her round with a double on the par 5, second hole followed by a bogey on the par 3, third hole. Following bogey’s on 5 and 6, Felicia played solid golf on hole’s 7 through 16 (+2). Unfortunately, a bogey on 17 was followed by a 9 on the par 5, eighteenth hole.

Felicia has been working on controlling her emotion’s at the beginning and end of tournament round’s, with her coach, George Pinnell. As most of us have done, Felicia’s mind drift’s off to thought’s about her score, rather than focusing on the shot she has in front of her. A difficult lesson, all player’s have to master to move to the “next level.”

Aaron Chang, Felicia’s brother, shot 96 in the Boys 12-13 Group. Aaron has been working on trying to eliminate mistake’s that lead to any score more than a bogey. At La Costa, he had 4 double’s. Aaron finished his round by shooting 2 over in the last six holes. His finish should give him encouragement and confidence to carry over into his next tournament round at Lakewood GC in Long Beach, CA, on Friday.
