Rory Hie T19 First Round Of Australian PGA Championship

ejio2012roryhie2303121Rory Hie, former USC All-American shot a -2 under par 69 to put him in a tie for 19th place in the first round of the Australian PGA Championship being played on the Golf Coast. The Championship is being contested on the RACV Royal Pines Resort course, a 7378 yard par 71 layout. American, Ricky Fowler, leads the event with a 63 (-8). Adam Scott is tied for second at -6.

Rory is coming off a disappointing performance in the Japan Golf Tour’s Qualifying School where he missed advancing to the finals by one stroke. The former 6 ranked amateur in the
world had been playing well in the previous 2 stage’s of the JGTO’s difficult tour school. Rory told his coach, George Pinnell, “I ran into putting issue’s this week and I didn’t make anything!”

As all players will agree, “just move on” after a bad round or event. That is apparently what Rory has done. Rory 69 included a 33 on the front 9 with 4 birdies and 2 bogies. His back side had an eagle and 2 bogies for an even round 36. The talented player is currently playing out of Jakarta where he and his family make their home.
