Choi Storm’s Back!

Jay Choi stormed back to finish in a tie for 21st place at the Diamond Cup Golf 2010 Tournament held at Sayama Golf Club in Saitama, Japan. Jay’s final round 67 (-5) was one of the best round’s of the day on the tight Sayama Golf Club course. Jay rebounded from just making the cut with rounds of 72-74. His final 2 round’s of 71-67 vaulted him from last place to the tie for 21’st. He finished with a total score of -4 (284).

Jay’s final round started on the back side and consisted of a rather quiet 9 hole’s of 2 birdies and a bogie to finish at 34 (-1). Jay made the turn and decided he needed to continue to be patient and that paid off for him. He proceeded to birdie 1, 4, 5, 8 and 9 to shoot 33 on the par 37 front nine. Jay bogied number 4.

Jay in a telephone conversation with his coach, George Pinnell, said, “it was a difficult driving week. The fairways were narrow and there was trouble on both side’s, so I had a little trouble finding the center on some hole’s.”

Jay is now 23rd on the money list and has his sight’s on trying to win Rookie of the Year for the Japanese Tour.

This coming week is the Japan Golf Tour Championship Citibank Cup played at Shishido Hills, Ibaraki, Japan.
