Park and Trotter Qualify for Women’s Am

Kristen Park shot 72 and finished 2nd as Joy Trotter fired a 73 to finish in a tie for 3rd. Kristen shot 36-36 while Joy shot 36-37, on the difficult Oakmont CC, in Glendale, Calif. Joy was disappointed with her bogie, bogie finish as she has been working hard to finish a round with a strong performance. Kristen hit a beautiful iron shot on the 18th to just a little past the hole but it spun back to about underneath the pin. She lipped out the putt and finished with an even par 72.

Kristen just off her big win at the Rolex Tournament of Champions has been really pleased with her ball striking. Kristen and her coach, George Pinnell, have been working over the winter and spring on getting the club face a little more square at the top. Kristen started to get comfortable with the position during her 66 at the ClubCorp event on the Dinah Shore Course at Mission Hills CC in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Joy has recently joined Via Verde Country Club in San Dimas, Calif., where she now has a great place to work on her game and prepare herself for the Women’s Am. Joy plan’s to turn pro following the Am.

Kristen will leave for the U.S. Girls Junior on Wednesday. Following the Junior she will play for the West in the Canor Cup before going to the PGA Junior Championship. The Women’s Amateur will be her next event and she will finish the summer at the Junior Ryder Cup in Scottland. This will be Kristen’s second Ryder Cup where she is undefeated at 6-0-0.
