Jay Choi Playing Dunlop Phoenix 2010

Jay Choi, from Wildomere, California and a rookie on the Japan PGA Tour (JGTO) is competing this week in the prestigious Dunlop Phoenix being played at the Phoenix Country Club, Miyazaki, Japan. Jay is tied for 47th place after the first round. Jay’s first round 3 over 74 put him in a tie with PGA Tour player Robert Allenby and a shot behind Shigeki Maruyama and one shot ahead of the sensational Ryo Ishikawa.

Jay is currently in 21st place on the money list but in the last 2 tournaments has not played up to his standards. Jay has been playing a full schedule this year including 7 weeks in a row. The extended schedule has been a learning experience that Jay will draw upon in future years. Jay told his coach, George Pinnell, “playing that many tournaments back to back has taken a toll on his stamina. I have learned a lot this year about tour life and I will put it to good use in future years.”

Jay will be returning to the U.S. in early December and will be splitting the off season between New Mexico and California.
