Jason Semthiti 2nd In First Collegiate Tournament

Jason Semthiti, a freshman at UC-Riverside finished second in his first collegiate golf tournament. Jason shot 71-70-71 (212) to finish a shot behind the winner Pedro Figueiredo of UCLA who shot 211 at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational at Monarch Dune GC.

Jason told his longtime coach, George Pinnell, that he was happy but felt that he should have done a little better. Jason told Pinnell, “if not for a double on number 11, I would have won the event.” Jason went on to say, “I hit the ball really straight and I putted well for two days.”

According to Pinnell, Jason was not on the radar of many college coach’s. But Pinnell has said that Jason’s best golf is in front of him and that he will continue to get better with a little more experience. Pinnell said, “Jason love’s the game and will do whatever he has to do to improve his game and feel’s that he will get better throughout his freshman and sophomore year at UCR.”
