Jay Choi 16th After 1st Round At Token Homemate Cup

Jay Choi, kicked off the 2012 Japan Golf Tour Organization with a 2 under par 69 on the par 71 Token Tado Country Club, Nagoya, Japan. Jay started play from the 10th tee and posted 6 pars before making consecutive birdies on the par 3, 16th and par 5, 17th to shoot 34 on the par 36 back nine of the Tado Country Club. Jay made the turn and rolled in 9 consecutive pars to finish with a par 35 to finish at -2 and put him in a tie for 16th place going into the second round. Tatunori Nukaga -7, 64 leads the tournament by one shot over Ryuichi Oda who shot -6, 65.

Jay hit 11 green’s in regulation, and had 5 up/down’s to go along with his 2 birdies. As always, the short game and putting prove’s to be essential part of winning or finishing strong in the game of golf. Jay’s 7 one putts and 29 total putts contributed to his solid play in the opening event in Japan.

Jay’s playing partner was Shigeki Maruyama who has played well in past events on the US PGA Tour. Jay and Shigeki will tee it up for the second round at 4:10 pm Pacific Coast Time. Live scoring is available at www.jgto.org.
