Jason Semthiti, a freshman at the University of California, Riverside shot a 2 under par 70 on the Mountain Course at The La Quinta Resort, La Quinta, CA. in the first round of the Big West Conference Championship. Jason’s 70 led the UCR team who is in 7th place starting the 2nd round. Chris Russo of CSU Northridge is in first place at 3 under par.

Jason who has struggled a little with his ball striking and putting since his season opening 2nd place in his first college event, told his coach, George Pinnell, “that my short game” really helped me today. I only missed 2 up/down’s all day and made a couple of birdies.” Jason was realistic in telling his coach that he had not really felt comfortable with his swing and that he felt he had his “B game” during the first round.
