Michael Alvarez Named MVP And Win’s Hacienda League Individual Championship

Michael Alvarez, a junior at Diamond Ranch High School, Pomona, CA, won the Hacienda League Individual Championship. Michael shot 68 at Santa Anita GC, 68 at Whittier Narrows GC and a final round 71 at General Old to finish 68-68-71 (207) to finish 3 shots ahead of Diamond Bar’s, Dean Sakata who was second at 68-71-71 (210). Brian Fong, Diamond Bar High School shot 75-71-74 (220) to finish in 7th place.

Michael has been working diligently on improving his skill set, according to his swing coach George Pinnell. “Michael is very dedicated to the game and is a young player that is very deserving of any success he may have.” Michael’s goal is to play obtain a golf scholarship to further his education and golf skills at the next level,” Pinnell added. “I know what this mean’s to Michael and it give’s me extreme pleasure to see him continue to achieve his goals.

Michael qualified for the CIF Individual Championship on May 14, 2012 at Mission Lakes GC.

Michael and Brian Fong are students of George Pinnell at the George Pinnell Golf Academy.
