Jay Choi Bounce’s Back With 3 Under 69

Jay Choi bounced back with a bogey free, 3 under par 69 to move him into a tie for 20th in the opening round of the Vana H Cup KBC Agusta golf tournament. The Vana Cup is being contested at the Keya Golf Club in Fukuoka, Japan. The Keya Golf Club seem’s to fit Jay’s eye and his game. He finished in fifth place in the 2011 event.

The former University of New Mexico All-American, improved his driving accuracy enough that allowed him to increase his ability to him 15 green’s in regulation. A bulky driver has contributed to two consecutive missed cut’s in 2012. If the first round is any indication, it would appear that Jay is getting his driver back in play a little better than in the past several events. Jay shot a front side 35 to go along with a 34 on the back side for his 69.

Jay’s coach, indicated that his bogey free round was really the highlight of his round. Winner’s are able to limit the damage that costly bogey’s and double’s bring to the scorecard. Costly mistake’s caused by management error or swing error must be limited to give a player a chance to win at the elite level.
