Muzi Has Best TTC Performance at Oak Valley

Katherine Muzi, a 12 year old from Walnut, CA., had her best performance on the Toyota Tour Cup Series as she tied for the best round of the second day with a 73, and finished tied for 5th place. J. Mangrobang, San Diego, CA, won the event with a par of 73’s (146).

Katherine, nicknamed, The Kat, shot a 3 over par 39 on the front nine but lit it up with 3 birdies on the back with a lone bogey on 18 that resulted in a 2 under par 34. The young player was coming off a good showing in Michigan playing on the AJGA where she finished 2nd, losing in a playoff on the first hole after a bogey on her finishing hole put her into the playoff.

Michael Alvarez, Henderson, NV, shot 74-75 (149) to tie for 13th place in the Boys Toyota Tour Cup. Michael’s coach, George Pinnell, is proud of Michael’s progress and is pleased that Michael has given a verbal commitment to play college golf on scholarship. “Michael will make his announcement at the appropriate time,” Pinnell said.

In the Toyota Tour Cup Qualifying Series, Matt Huo finished 110 by scoring 80-82 (162). Matt is an up and coming 12 year old from Corona, CA. Aaron Chang, 13, La Habra Heights, CA, shot 85-84 (169) and finished in a tie for 145th place while Roman (Romo) Aragon shot 86-84 (170) and finished in a tie for 149th place. 172 player’s participated in the qualifying school at Los Serranos-North in Chino Hills, CA.

In the Toyota Tour’s Girls Qualifying School at Diamond Bar Golf Club, Diamond Bar, CA., Felicia “Fish” Chang, finished in a tie for 35th place with score’s of 82-83 (165). The talented “ball striker” is working hard on learning “how to score” as she start’s her sophomore year in high school.

Elizabeth Fung, West Covina, CA, finished in a tie for 48th place with 85-83 (168). Elizabeth is trying to “balance” the difficult task of participating in marching band while trying to play well enough to earn a scholarship to play college golf. Time management will be a challenge for this young player.

74 player’s participated in the TTC Qualifying School.

In other action over the weekend, Ryan Toh, 8, finished in a tie for 19th place with a score of 38 (+11) in the JDL Series @ Manhattan Beach in the JDL Boys 11 & under. In the Girls JDL Series 12 & over, Mylan Hirata shot 40 (+13) to finish in a tie for 14th place.
