Kendra Nones Victorious at Scholl Canyon

Kendra Nones, 14, won the Scholl Canyon Fall Challenge with a score of -1 (59). Kendra play’s in the Girls 12-14 division. Kendra had a solid front nine score of even par with 2 birdie’s and the only blemish was the double on number 6. The back nine started with another double bogey 6, but Kendra righted the ship with birdie’s on 12, 14, 16 and 18. Her lone bogey on the back side was on number 13. Her 6 birdie’s is spectacular for a 14 year old.

Leeyen Peralta, finished in a tie for 3rd with a 4 over par 64. Leeyen was -1 through five hole’s before she made a double on 6 to close with a one over par 31 on the front side. The back side proved to be more difficult as she made 4 bogey’s to go along with another birdie to score a +3, 33. Leeyen is working hard to achieve more consistency in her game.

In the Girls 9-11 division, Sherilyn Villanueva, finished in a tie for 4th with a +4, 34. Sherilyn started strong with four par’s before bogeying 4 out of her last 5 hole’s.

At the TTC CrossCreek Qualifier @ Indian Wells CC, Matthew Huo, Corona, CA, shot a +5, 77 to miss qualifying for the Toyota Tour Cup. A double on 3 and 4 bogey’s on the back side kept Matt from earning a spot on the TTC. Aaron Chang shot 84 and finished in a tie for 38th.

Felicia Chang, 14, finished in a tie for 7th place in the Girls Qualifier for the TTC. Felicia shot 84. Two double’s and a triple kept the young player from Hacienda Heights, CA from qualifying.

In the Toyota Tour Cup Series @ Indian Wells, Garrett Hutchinson, Chino Hills, CA, struggled with a two day total of 168 (82-86) to finish in a tie for 81st.

In the Girls Division of the TTC Series, Stephanie Lau, shot 73-71 (-1) 144 to win the event. Steph, used her AJGA experience to her advantage and birdied 4 out of her last six hole’s for the victory. Katherine Muzi finished in 10th place with a score of 150 (77-73). The Kat came back in the second day with 4 birdies. A double on the par 3, eighth hole was her only blemish on her front side. She shot a solid -1 (36) on the par 37 front side.

In JDL action, Yi Yi (Double Yi) Ouyang, finished in a tie for 7th with a 37 (+10). A shot behind Yi Yi, was Duke Pham-Chang with a 38. The 38 is Duke’s best score in his first year of competitive golf. In the Girls JDL 12 & over, Iris Wu, shot 38 (+11) in her first ever JDL competition. and finished in 7th place.

At the Alhambra Fall Challenge, Leeyen Peralta shot 81 and finished in a tie for 4th. In the Girls 9-11 division, Sherilyn Villanueva won the event with a solid 40 (+4). Sherilyn must have been channeling her coach, George Pinnell, as she FINISHED strong with birdies on her last two holes.
