Sebastian Vallejo Win’s Lakewood Fall Challenge With -3!

Sebastian Vallejo, 11 year’s old from Torrance, CA, blistered the Lakewood Golf Course with a sizzling -3 under par 34 to win the Lakewood Fall Challenge. Sebastian’s round started out routinely, with par’s on 1-4, until he made bogey on five. Sebastian fired back with an eagle 3 on the par five sixth followed by birdie’s on 7 and 8 and a par on nine! -4 under par for three consecutive hole’s is outstanding for any level of player, let alone an 11 year old.

Katherine scored a one over par 37 on the front side of the first day and it went downhill from there. Getting consistent was a problem for the 13 year old who is working hard to control her emotion’s while competing. Her coach, George Pinnell, work’s with her on what he call’s “Reaction Management,” the art of being able to control your emotion’s immediately after making a poor shot, bogey or worse. Katherine’s father, told Pinnell, that Katherine had made two birdies in a row and then made a double and said dejectedly, “I gave it all back.” According to Pinnell, that was a profound statement that indicated that she understand’s the gravity of hitting a poor shot or making a high score after posting several birdies. “Maturation,” Pinnell said.

In the TTC Morongo/Oak Valley Qual @ Black Gold, Matt Huo, shot 80 and finished in a tie for 13th place. A double on the finishing hole, cost Matt a top 10 finish. Matt made bogey’s on 1-4 and shot 2 over par through the next 13 hole’s before the double on 18.
