Ali and The Kat Play Well at Torrey Pines

Katherine “The Kat” Muzi tied for 8th place in the Toyota Tour Cup Series Championship at Torrey Pines with score’s of 80-78 (158).  Ali Morallos was a shot behind Katherine with round’s of 77-82 (159).  According to Katherine’s father, Steve, the condition’s were quite difficult because of cool temperature’s and windy condition’s.
Katherine’s first round on the North Course was a mixed bag of birdies (2) and double’s (2) with a front side score of 40.  She settled down on the back side with 5 par’s and 4 bogy’s for another 40.
The second day, on the South Course, site of Tiger Wood’s victory in the 2008 U. S. Open, proved to play a little easier.  Katherine shot a 2 over 38 on the front and a 40 on the back for a 78 final score and a two day total of 158.  As usual, “The Kat” was not satisfied with her play and was determined to work hard to improve for her next event, the Bridgestone Championship in early January.
Ali Morallos, shot a steady, 39 on the front side of the North Course with 6 par’s and 3 bogey’s before making the turn.  Ali’s backside was a little of a mixed bag, that consisted of two birdies and four bogey’s for a 38 and a score of 77.
The second round was similar as Ali opened the front nine with a 40.  A birdie on 11 was followed with a string of play that Ali would like to have over.  Ali ran into trouble in her last six hole’s where she dropped 7 shot’s to post a disappointing 82.  Overall, her tie for 9th place is a solid finish, but her back side of the second round will leave a bad taste and a wondering of “what could have been” if she would have finished stronger.
Katherine and Ali are both committed to improving their play and have a promising future, according to their coach, George Pinnell.
