Jay Choi Overcomes Poor Start in Korea at SK Telecom Open

rory3jay-15Jay Choi opened the Sk Telecom Open in South Korea, with an even par 72. Jay started the second round on number 10 with par’s on 10 and 11 before a bogey on 12 and a double on 13. The bogey, double bogey start, seemed to slow any momentum, the Japan Tour Player might have had, going into the second round. BUT, tour player’s have the ability to rebound and overcome mistake’s by making a run of birdies to keep them in contention. Jay shot 4 under par from 14 through 9 to vault him into a tie for 20th place going into “moving day.” 5 birdies and the bogey on 7 the bogey on 12 and double on 13 left him with a solid comeback one under par 71.

Rory Hie also had a mixed bag with an even par 72 that left him in a tie for 58. Rory had an opening round 75. His even par round consisted of an eagle, birdie and 2 bogies on the front for a -1, 35. Rory’s back side consisted of a birdie and 2 bogies for a 37. Rory made the cut, right on the number. The cut line was +3.
