Peralta & Aragon Win at The Los Angeles County Junior Golf Championship

Leeyen Peralta, 13, Brea, CA, won the Girls 12-14 Division of the Los Angeles County Junior Golf Championship. Leeyen shot a +6 over par 77 in her first round that was played at La Mirada GC, La Mirada, CA. The talented 13 year old backed up her 77 with a super solid 70 (-3) on the Diamond Bar GC, Diamond Bar, CA, to claim the victory by 2 shot’s over 2nd place finisher, Irene Kim, La Palma, who shot 77-72 (149). Leeyen posted 77-70 (147). This was a big win that will give Leeyen the needed confidence to compete at higher level’s in her junior career.

In the Boys 14-15 Division, Roman “Romo” Aragon, La Palma, fired 70-69 to win the championship by 4 shots over Richard Macarnanas, Long Beach, CA. Romo was consistent in his play over the two day event with a 70 at La Mirada and a 69 at Diamond Bar.

Sebastian Vallejo, Torrance, CA, finished in a tie for 7th place in the 12-13 Division. Sebastian shot 81-76 (157).

Leeyen, Roman and Sebastian are all student’s of George Pinnell at the George Pinnell Golf Academy.

Participant’s in The Los Angeles County Junior Championship had to qualify through one of the six “qualifier” event’s that was held throughout the summer. There were approximately 6 player’s who qualified from each of the six sites to move on to the County Championship.
