Rose Zhang Wins 3 Points In 2015 Oak Valley Cup

12 year old, Rose Zhang, was instrumental in helping China win the 2015 Oak Valley Cup. The event is a Ryder Cup format that pit’s the team of 12 player’s (6 girls/6 boys) from the Southern California Junior Tour(SCPGA) against the junior team from China. The Oak Valley Golf Club in Banning, CA., is host of the event. Rose was invited to play on Team China even though she was born in the United States.

In the Four-Some Match Play, Rose and Cameron Lee defeated Erica Wang and Christina Perez from Team SCPGA, 6 & 4 to win 1 point for team China. In the Four-Ball Match play, Rose and Cameron were victorious over Erica and Christina in their afternoon match to win their 2nd point of the day. In the Singles Matches, Rose beat Annika Chickering, 6 & 4, to win her 3rd point of the Oak Valley Cup to be the leader in Team China’s win.

SCPGA and China were tied at 6 each, after the first day of Four-Some and Four-Ball Matches.
Led by Rose Zhang’s victory in her Singles Match, Team China won 8 while the SCPGA Team won 4 matches. Team China’s victory was fueled by the their Singles play. the final score in the 2 day event was Team China 14, Team SCPGA 10.

The event was founded in 2008 and the SCPGA has won 6 time’s, while Team China has won 2 time’s.
