Xu 2nd at Nike Camps at Lakewood

Michelle Xu, Chino Hills, CA, tied for first place at the Nike Camps event at Lakewood GC, but ended up in second because of a play-off by a card-off. Michelle shot 78 and was in a position to win until she finished with 4 bogies on the final 4 hole’s. Michelle was even through 14 hole’s and then the bogey train raised it’s ugly head. Michelle has been working on improving her swing mechanic’s and she has done well, according to her coach, George Pinnell.IMG_1557

Pinnell has told Michelle, that “you need to be concerned about your physicality when you are competing, in any sport. In golf, a player can become fatigued in the leg’s late in the round, and not be aware of it. This fatigue will cause the arms to get out of sync with the lower body and cause errant shot’s, and the player cannot understand what has caused the bad shot’s until the damage has been done. Junior’s need to be aware of this phenomena and get involved in a TPI like program.”

Brooke Li, Irvine, CA, played in the Nike Camps at Lakewood event at Lakewood GC, Lakewood, CA, and shot 78 to finish in a tie for sixth place. William Oetojo, Arcadia, CA, finished tied for eighth place with a 79 in the Boys 12-14 Division.

Brooke Li, placed third at the San Dimas event with a 76 in the boys 12-14 Division while Ben Lee, placed tied for second with a solid 73 in the Boys 15-18 Division. Gabby Kano, Fullerton, CA, shot 43 and finished tied for second place in the Girls 9-11 Division. Congratulation’s to all player’s and be sure to analyze your performance on the last 5-6 hole’s. You too, may fall prey to being fatigued, causing you to make bogey or worse on your finishing hole’s.
