Rory Hie is finding that life on tour is a challenge in many ways. The challenge to score and perform well in the various tournaments in different countries, along with different foods, hotels and the media attention given to his celebrity status, especially in Indonesia. Life on tour is very different than junior golf or college golf.
Rory is currently dealing with another matter that is more serious and concerning. While he was in Italy he was hospitalized for one week with a corneal infection that has bothered his vision and his ability to read greens. Rory cannot wear his contacts, so that leaves him no option other than glasses.
Adjusting to the infection and wearing the glasses has not been a pleasant experience for this talented rookie on the European and Asian Tours.
Rory is currently in Austria, where he is participating in the Karnten Golf Open on the European Challenge Tour. Rory will be playing in 2 events in France, one each in Sweden and Switzerland before going back to Jakarta, Indonesia, July 13.
Rory’s best finish on tour is a tie for 9th at the SAIL Open where he shot 67 70 67 67 271. Rory has made the cut in 4 out of 7 starts in 2009. Rory is anxious to get his eye problems solved so he can get back to the top of game and continue his journey on tour.
