Many junior golfers and their parent’s are not aware of what college coaches are looking for when recruiting for their university golf team. What does it take to play golf at the highest levels? The answer is a lot of the very things that you need to win a local junior tournament, only MORE of it. As a player climbs higher up the ladder, he/she will need to be a better driver, both in terms of power and accuracy: a more precise iron player; a more reliable scorer and a more creative short-game player. As Henry Brunton states, “You will need the ability to hole the putts that are makeable, and make some of the ones that aren’t to makeable too. Your game has to grow. And that’s just to play college golf.”
