Choi, Back In Contention At the Ana Open

Jay Choi is back in contention at the Ana Open. The Ana Open is being contested at the Sapporo Golf Club, Wattsu Course, Hokkaido, Japan. Choi shot an opening round 67 (-5) with 5 birdie’s an eagle and 2 bogie’s. Jay’s round included a 2 (eagle) on the 407 yard par 4 tenth hole and 2 bogie’s on the par 5, 9th and par 5, 17th. He is currently in 3rd place after the 2nd round.

Choi is currently 24th on the money list and is enjoying his first year on the Japanese PGA Tour. Jay credit’s his length off the tee and his ability to hit green’s as the main reason’s for his success. His short game scrambling has also been a large contributor to his success this year. Jay has told his coach George Pinnell, that “he is working hard on improving the area’s where he feel’s he need’s to get better to allow him to be in a position to win.” Pinnell, said, “this is Jay’s first year on this tour so he is unfamiliar with the course’s and he will play them better in his second season because of his familiarity with them.”
