Stephanie Lau’s Final Round 68 At Grand Cypress -Tie For 3rd!

Stephanie Lau an eighth grader from Fullerton, CA. shot a personal best 68 in the final round of the Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions that was played at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, FL. The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) event was a 54 hole tournament played on Grand Cypress, The New Course and The East/North course.

Stephanie shot 78-72-68 (218) +2 to share third place with Yang Yue Hill, Palm Desert, CA. (Senior) Stephanie was 5 under par in her final 38 holes of the tournament. Following the tournament she told her coach, George Pinnell, “I really hit the ball well this week and I got my putter to work for me. How did you like my finish today, Coach?” (Pinnell is always stressing to learn how to “finish” a round) Stephanie shot 33 on the back nine and finished birdie, birdie and then said, “how do you like me now, Coach?” Her performance this week should be an indicator of more to come, this summer.

The Bridgestone was one by Laura Restrepo, Panama City, Panama who was -5 with rounds of 69-74-68 (211). Laura will be a senior in high school in the fall. Jung Hwa Hyun, Daegu, Korea, was the 2nd place finisher and she will also be a senior in the fall.
