AJ Song Tie’s For First At JDL @ Verdugo Hills

AJ Song, Yorba Linda, CA shot a solid 31 (+4) to tie for first place in the JDL A Verdugo Hills Golf Course, Tujunga, CA. AJ birdied the last hole (9) to tie Tyler Chua, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. A double on one, followed by bogey’s on two and three got AJ off to a shaky start. But the talented up and coming player made par’s on four and five before making a bogey on six. He parred seven and eight before the birdie on 9. Look for more from this motivated youngster.

In the Girls 11 and under, Sunny Whang, Diamond Bar, CA, shot a 35 (+8) to finish in fifth place and achieve the JDL requirement to score +8 or better to count toward the necessary +8 score, three times on the JDL before being promoted to the Junior Tour. Sunny has been working hard on learning the correct swing path to create a more reliable ball flight. She practices at home by making practice swings on the correct swing path.

Alexa Melton, Covina, CA, finished in a tie for sixth place with a 9 over par 42. Nine year old Elyse Kim, South Pasadena, CA, shot 10 over par and finished in a tie for ninth place.

AJ, Sunny, Alexa and Elyse are all student’s of George Pinnell at the George Pinnell Golf Academy.
