Jay Choi the 28 year old Japan Golf Tour player is currently ranked 207 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Jay played his high school golf at Gahr High School, Cerritos, CA, and was an NCAA All-American at the University of New Mexico where he led the Lobo’s for four year’s.
Jay has a home in Wildomar, CA, where he makes his home during the off season. Jay play’s out of Bear Creek Golf Club while in the US and Tarao CC during the season in Japan. The talented player finished 3rd in the Japan Golf Tour Qualifying School and was the first player to ever go through the qualifying school and finish in the top 25 on the Money List. Jay finished 17th in his rookie year.
The first win on tour came last month on the Japan Tour when he won the Totoumi Hamamatsu Open. The following week Jay tied for 3rd at the Diamond Cup Golf Tournament at The Country Club Japan. Jay was ranked 6th on the money list and is enjoying his best year in three year’s in Japan.
The Japan Tour has two week’s off during the US Open but will resume next week with the Mizuno Open at JFE Setonaikai Golf Club in Okayama, Japan. You can follow live scoring at www.jgto.org.
