Michelle Thompson, a senior at Foothill HS, shot 70 to win the Fullerton Spring Classic at Fullerton Golf Club in Fullerton, CA. Michelle has committed to play golf for Cal State Fullerton in the Fall. Finishing 2nd, 3 shot’s behind Michelle, was Sarah Juelch at 73.
Michelle shot even par on the front side with a bogey on two and a birdie on four. The back side was not as kind because she had bogie’s on eleven, eighteen and a double on thirteen to go along with her lone birdie on 15. The double on thirteen included a three putt. Michelle told her coach, “everything that could go wrong on thirteen did go wrong.”
In the Girls 9-11 division, Sherilyn Villanueva, finished 4th, with a score of 46.
Leeyen Peralta, finished in a tie for 3rd place at the David L. Baker Spring Classic with a score of even par.
Kaitleen Shee, a freshman at Diamond Bar HS, finished tied for 10th place in action on the Toyota Tour Cup Series, played at River Ridge Golf Club. Kaitleen shot 79-75 (154). Katherine Muzi was tied for second after the first round 73, but stumbled to a 85 in the final round to post a 160, good for 17th place.
In JDL action, YiYi (Double Yi) shot a 43 to finish in a tie for 17th place at Pico Rivera.
Ron Hui, 11, finished 16th at the Meadowlark Spring Challenge with a 48. Leeyen Peralta finished 4th with a score of 42, in the Girls 9-11 division.
Action on the Toyota Tour Cup Series Qualifier at the Classic Club, Shandin Hills Golf Course, found Matthew Huo in 48th place with 84. Matthew complained to his coach, George Pinnell, “I had problem’s with my fairway bunker shot and my four wood.”
Aaron Chang finished tied for 53rd place with an 86.
In the Girls Qualifier, Felicia Chang finished in 13th place with an 85. Felicia had a solid round going until she made bogey on the fourteenth hole, followed by a triple on the fifteenth, a double’s on sixteen and seventeen and a bogey on eighteen.
