Matthew Huo, Corona, CA, won the Boys 12-13 age group with a 78 (+6) at the Primm Valley TTC Qualifier. Matthew is playing with a new set of Callaway X Forged iron’s and it look’s like they are working for the 12 year old. Matthew made 2 birdies, one on the par three, eighth hole and one on the finishing par five, eighteenth. The blemish’s were a double on 9 and 11. Matt also had 4 bogey’s in his victory. He won by 3 shot’s over Ricky Cen who shot 84.
In other action at the 63rd Annual Gail Stockton Memorial at Arrowhead Country Club, Katherine “The Kat” Muzi, finished in 2nd place behind Ashley Park with a score of 76, one shot behind Ashley. Overall, Katherine played solid golf on Sunday, although she did have 2 double bogey’s, one on the opening hole and the other on the finishing hole? A birdie on 10 and a bogey on 12 gave “The Kat” a pretty clean scorecard according to her coach, George Pinnell. Pinnell like’s to see his player’s “finish strong” because more than likely, the last four hole’s of a tournament has a tremendous influence on the outcome. In this case, Katherine would have won with a par on 18.
Alexa Melton shot one of her best round’s, an 80 and finished in 7th place.
Felicia Chang finished in a tie for 9th with an 82. “Fish” had a little trouble on the front side shooting 41 with a birdie and 6 bogey’s. The par 5 thirteenth hole was a disaster for Felicia as she describe it as a “really bad triple bogey”. The good news was she had six par’s on the back.
Congratulation’s to all of the junior’s performance’s over the weekend.
George Pinnell arrived back in the United State’s on Sunday, after spending a week working with Jay Choi in Japan. The lesson schedule at The George Pinnell Golf Academy will be back to normal on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
