Michael Alvarez Light’s Up Black Gold With A 67

Michael Alvarez, Henderson, NV, lead’s the Cleveland Golf/Srixon Champ @ Black Gold with an opening round -5 (67). Michael, a lefty, shot 33 on the front and backed that up with a solid 34 on the back side. Michael had a good looking scorecard that featured the 5 birdie’s but more importantly, he did not have any mistake’s (bogey’s or more). Michael lead’s A Kitchner, Yorba Linda, CA, by a shot. The second and final round will be played on June 18, 2013.

Michael told his coach, George Pinnell, “I feel very confident with my putting, and I believe a solid short game and good course management will put me in a position to challenge at any tournament I play in.” Michael will be a senior in the fall at Coronado High School, Henderson, NV. Michael played at Diamond Ranch HS, Pomona, CA before moving to Henderson in January.

Michael’s goal is to secure a scholarship so that he can continue his education and play golf at the collegiate level. With the score’s he has been posting, I am sure he is on the radar of coach’s recruiting for the 2014 season.
