GPGA Students Perform Well On SCPGA Tour

Matthew Huo, shot 76-79 (155) to finish in a tie for 3rd place in the 56th Annual Lee Hammil Memorial golf tournament played at Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park, CA. Matt played in the Boys 12-13 Division. Aaron Chang shot 88-84 (172) to finish in 22nd place in the Boys 14-15 Division. Patrick Ordonez finished in a tie for 11th at +10, 46-45 (91) in the Boys 9-11 Division.

In the Girls 15-18, Felicia Chang finished in 5th place with a career best two day total of 76-78 (154).

At the 25th Annual Costa Mesa Championship, Matthew Huo finished in 4th place with a two day total of 149, (76-73) in the Boys 12-13 Division while Roman (Romo) Aragon, shot 151 (79-72) in the Boys 14-15 Division.

In the Girls 12-14 Division, Sherilyn Villanueva shot 77-82 (159) to finish in 7th place while a new GPGA student, Kalita Laparojkit placed 1st in the Girls 9-11 Division with a 54-52 (106).

In AJGA action at Forest Lake CC, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Katherine Muzi finished in a tie for 7th place with a three day total of 232, (76-75-81). The Kat was within 2 shot’s of the lead several time’s in the final round, but was unable to take advantage of her situation as she had problem’s with her driver accuracy and her ability to make par’s when she missed a green. Although painful to go through such an awkward round, Kat will use this as a learning experience and be better prepared when she is in a similar situation, her coach stated. The talented young player from Walnut, CA, returned home late last night and will get busy fixing her golf swing before she travels to Chico, CA, to compete in another AJGA event next week.
