The 2015 SCPGA Junior Tour is off and running!! The featured event for the Valentine’s Day weekend was the Toyota Tour Championship at Industry Hills GC on the famed Eisenhower Course. Katherine Muzi, a freshman at Walnut High School, shot a +1, 73 in the opening round and was in second place. In Kat’s second round she shot 77 and finished in a tie for 6th place with three players who were all just 3 shot’s short of the winning score of A. Park, Mission Viejo, CA, who shot 75-72 (147) to win the event.
Ali Morallos, Long Beach, CA, finished in a tie for 4th place with 75-74 (149). Crystal Wang, Diamond Bar, CA, and a player on the 2014 California State Championship Team (Diamond Bar), finished in a tie for 10 place after rebounding from an opening 78 with a 74 to finish at 152. Andrea Han, La Crenscenta, CA, opened with a 83 and shot a second round 78 to finish at 161 and a tie for 26th place. Elizabeth Fung, West Covina, CA, shot 79-74 (163) to finish in a tie for 34th place. Elizabeth, a senior, was just accepted this week to attend UC Berkeley! Michelle Xu, Walnut, CA, shot 81-85 (166) to finish in a tie for 37th place.
At the Newport Beach Spring event, Sherilyn Villanueva finished in a tie for 2nd place with a +7, 66, in the Girls 12-13 age group.
In JDL action on Saturday, Ryan Ko shot 40 and finished in 3rd place at the JDL @Manhattan Beach.
Leeyen Peralta, Brea, CA., shot +9, 82 to finish in 4th place in the Balboa Spring event at Balboa GC. L. Dizon, Los Angeles, CA, fired a -4, 69, to win the Balboa Spring Classic in the Girls 14-18 age group.
Player’s had great weather to kick off the season. Temperature’s were in the mid 80’s with an abundance of sun. Congratulation’s to all of the participant’s and to player’s from the George Pinnell Golf Academy.
