At the San Dimas Summer Championship, Michelle Xu finished in a tie for eighth place with an 88. Michelle is rebuilding her swing with her coach and she is mixing her “old” swing with her “new” swing, causing her ball flight to not be as stable as we would like. Michelle is attending summer school and working hard on her “golf homework.”
At the Gail Stockton Memorial event at Arrowhead Country Club, Katherine “The Kat” Muzi posted a +5 over par 77, to finish in a tie for 4th place. The winning score was +2 by Michelle Wong, who won in a playoff with H Zeman.
Kat was coming off an AJGA event in Georgia where she finished in 2nd place. She had a long flight back to LA from Atlanta late Thursday evening. The tight schedule did not allow for the preparation required to switch “gear’s” and get ready for the Gail Stockton event.
Kat woke early on Friday morning to practice and prepare as much as possible for the changing course and grass condition’s from the Southeast to the Western course’s.
Mylan Hirata, continued her improvement and although she is 13, she was playing in the Girls 14-18 Division. Mylan shot an 83 and continued to improve her course management decision’s and her reaction management to mistake’s she made during the “heat” of the round.
Anrea Han shot an 85 and placed in a tie for 13th place.
In JDL action, Nicole Zhang continued her quest to qualify for the Junior Tour by finishing in a tie for 3rd place with a score of +8 in the Girls JDL 11 & under. If Nicole continues her good play she will qualify for the Junior Tour in the coming month’s.
That wrap’s it up for the week’s competition.
I encourage everyone to read the result’s and watch the video’s that are posted on www.georgepinnell.com. They are very informative and useful to players and parents.
