Kim and Lingamen Qualify for Cal State @ Sierra Laverne while Tain wins at Rio Hondo

Derek Kim and Christian Lingamen qualified for the Cal State Boys Amateur. Derek, from Irvine, CA, shot 75 to finish in a tie for 6th place and Christian, from North Hills, CA, shot 76 to tie for 8th place. 8th place and ties qualified for the amateur championship.

Reina Tain, Torrance, CA, won the Rio Hondo Summer Championship by firing a 78 to win by 4 shot’s in the girls 12-13 Division. Mylan Hirata, La Habra Heights, CA, finished in a tie for 5th place with a 77 in the Girls 14-18 Division. Gabby Kano, Fullerton, CA, finished in 4th place in the Girls 9-11 Division by posting a 44. Unfortunately, Kano will be sidelined while doctor’s examine her to find what is causing her back problem’s at such a young age. We all wish Gabby a quick recovery.

At the Ping @ Strawberry Farms, Yugo Koshiishi, shot 77-76 (153) to finish in a tie for 11th place in the Boys 15-18 Division. Andrew Herong Wang and Jimmy Gao, both from Irvine, CA, finished in a tie for 2nd place with matching 78’s, in the Boys 9-11 Division.

Mylan Hirata, qualified for the Oak Valley Toyota Tour Championship by winning a playoff to gain entry into the TTC event. Mylan, 14, shot 78 and was successful in winning the final spot by defeating an 18 year old.

Jomar Veloso, Woodland Hills, CA, finished in 15th place in the Westlake Summer Championship while Umbie Caseres, Fullerton, CA, shot 90 and finished in 10th place in the Boys 12-14 Division at the Jurupa Summer Championship. Mylan Hirata, continuing her current streak of good play, finished in 2nd place in the Girls 14-18 Division.

In JDL action at Arcadia, CA, Bella Yang shot 35 and finished in a tie for 3rd place, while her friend, Carolyn Sun, shot 39 and finished in 8th place in the JDL Girls 11 & under.

At the PING @ River Ridge, Jimmy Gao is in 3rd place with a 42 in the Boys 9-11 Division. The final round will be played on July 28th.
