Katherine Muzi, shot 70-77-77 (224) to finish in a tie for 2nd place in the New Era Junior Championship. The 54 hole, AJGA event was contested at Harvest Hill Golf Course, Orchard Park, New York. Kat got off to a fast start with an opening round 70 (-2) to be in a tie for 1st place. She opened with birdies on 3, 5 and 6, before making a double bogey 5 on the 7th hole. Kat made birdie on the 8th, but bogied the 9th for a -1 (35). She made birdie on 10 and then reeled off a string of par’s on 11 through18 for a -1 (35) to go along with her 35 on the front 9.
Kat was disappointed in her 2nd and 3rd round play, knowing that she could have and should have performed better. She was happy that even with her “C game” that she was able to tie for 2nd place. Kat’s 2nd place finish was her 3rd of the season. She had 3 second’s in 4 AJGA start’s this summer. Even more remarkable was she accomplished this while attending summer school!
Kat will start her sophomore year at Walnut High School today. Kat is currently ranked 57th in the U.S. by the Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings. Her record as of today is:
