2017 Southern California Junior Tour kicks off the Season

11 year old, Bryant Hernandez, shot a +1 over par 38 to finish in 2nd place in the Harding Spring Classic at Harding Golf Course. Logan Kim, won the event with a -3, 34. Bryant started the year off with a bogey on his first hole and followed it up with 5 par’s in a row, until he made bogey on the par 5, 7th hole. Bryant, finished strong with a birdie on the 9th and final hole to wrap up his 2nd place finish. Bryant, compete’s in the Boys 9-11 Division.

Bryant, came back on Sunday, and shot another +1 over par 36, to win the Dad Miller Spring Tournament. Bryant, made a birdie, 6 par’s and 2 bogies in his win.

In the Toyota Tour Championship Oak Valley Qualifier at General Old, Catherine (Tianhong) Yu, finished in a tie for 12 place with an 81. Catherine, has been accepted to Carnagi Mellon University, and was the number 1 recruit for their women’s golf team. Catherine’s dream of being admitted into the nation’s number 1 ranked, computer science program, was a dream that came true, because of her dedication and hard work academically and in her golf game.

Michelle Chang, shot an 82 and finished in a tie for 14th place. Former student, Michelle Xu, won the event with an even par 73. Michelle, who moved to Pebble Beach to attend high school, flew home to compete in the qualifier. In a conversation with, George Pinnell, Michelle, told him “that I was really surprised at my performance because I have not been able to practice much at Pebble Beach, because of the colder weather and rain.”

In the Boys Division, Kyle Lam shot a 98.

In the JDT Spring @ Casta Del Sol, Tyler (Buford) Shin, shot a 47 and finished in a tie for 13th place. This was Tyler’s first time competing in a golf tournament. As could be expected, he was nervous and a little intimidated. The JDT is the Junior Development Tour.

Congratulations to all of the player’s and to Bryant for posting a “W” and a second in his first to event’s of the 2017 season.
